General Class Questions

Will I have support from instructors and administration throughout the course?

Definitely! At MTS Class we view ourselves and our students as members of an incredible international team. Our main goal as your staff and instructors team is to work hand in hand with you, our students, to ensure a great class experience and guide you to a successful job offer. Keep in mind we are working together. That means that we expect our students to give 110% and we will do the same!

Are classes in person or online? What are the options for virtual learning?

Classes are held both in person and remotely using the Microsoft Teams platform.

Keep in mind if you live in the state of Maryland, you are required to take your final accreditation exam in person.

What materials do I need for the course?

A computer with a working microphone and video camera is mandatory for the course. Additionally, any materials you use to take notes or aid in your concentration are a great help!

What happens if I am absent from class?

At MTS Class we have a very tough absence policy. Our courses are remote so our students can attend from anywhere.

If a student misses more than 2 classes with an unexcused absence they are removed from the course. Now don’t get us wrong, we understand life happens. Simply let your instructor know you will be missing class and attach the corresponding doctor’s note or documentation and your absence will be excused.

What happens if I get sick during the course?

We stress to our students that taking care of themselves during the course (exercise, healthy eating, SLEEP, etc) are extremely important because you can only miss 2 days of the course and then we would need to discuss whether your learning goals can still be achieved and on a case by case basis we would evaluate if it’s necessary for you to be removed from the course while you recover. So we can’t stress enough, take care of yourself, raise red flags early on and we will be here to help you navigate the rest.

How well do I need to speak english?

We are a school that admits students from all over the world, and as a result, we have to ensure that both students and staff can communicate with ease in one common language. As we will be focusing on very technical material in the duration of the course, we use our interview processes to ensure that our prospective students can communicate with a high level of English fluency and proficiency when speaking about technical topics.

What is included in the Career Prep of the Course?

Interview Coaching: Which helps students with communication strategies in preparation for their tech interview.
Resume Building: Craft a professional resumé and set up a LinkedIn profile that highlights your tech strengths and skills.
Employment Assistance: Access to job leads *Employment is not guaranteed.

Number of teachers per cohort? Are they from the industry or former students?

As of today, we have approximately 1 instructor/tutor to every 5 students. As far as we know, that’s the best ratio in the industry, and by a big margin. We are proud to say that all of our instructors are currently working full-time in the Linux or CyberSecurity field for NASA, the FDA, and The Aerospace Corporation to name a few!

What has been the average cohort size to date?

The average cohort size is between 10 and 15 students per cohort. The actual size of each cohort varies depending on factors like location and time of the year.

Admissions Questions

Since MTS Class is selective, how do I make my application stand out? What are you looking for?

We look for any sign that you’ve taken on challenges in the past and achieved them, we look for people who are nice, super positive, and passionate, and we check for some minimum technical knowledge.

Why does MTS Class need so many interviews and tests to enter a course?

MTS Class is a selective school, and there’s an admission process to ensure that the course is going to have the best possible outcomes for our students. This is the same for any selective institution, like UCLA or Google.

We try to review applications as fast as possible, and we’ve had students in the past who were able to complete all 3 steps in as little as half a week, although on average it takes about 1-1.5 weeks. The time to complete the admissions process depends on how prepared the student is, since our course does not admit people who do not pass the basic computer knowledge test.

Will I need to pass the personal interview?

Yes. A personal interview allows us to go over your overall educational journey, and ensure that you would be a great fit for our positive and collaborative environment, and that we are a great fit for you!

Do I need prior I.T. experience?

You need the very basics! After applying you will be sent a basic computer knowledge test. You can take this test as many times as you’d like but you must pass to gain access to scheduling your personal interview.

How much time do I need for the admissions process? Can I apply today and start tomorrow?

Here you have the timeline to join any MTS Class course! Please note all steps need to be completed in this order by the Wednesday before the start date of the course of your choice:
Admissions Test (Depends on Student and level): Admissions test can be taken as many times as you’d like but must be passed in order to schedule a Personal Interview
Personal Interview (30 min)
Student Loan Application – if applicable (depends on student) Our finance partners are incredibly quick so as long as you are to this step should not take more than a couple business days

Student Issues

What is the Student Grievance Policy

A grievance is a claim, complaint or an expression of concern made by a student regarding any aspect of his or her educational experience including mishandling the school’s policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, or unfair treatment, such as coercion, reprisal, or intimidation by an Instructor or school employee. Grievances should be initially discussed with their Instructor or Student Success Coordinator. 

An appeal is an escalation of the complaint to a next level of authority. If it’s about an academic decision, such as grade, see the academic appeals process. 

A student has the right to appeal all matters with respect to:

  • Admissions decisions
  • Tuition and fee matters
  • Financial policies
  • Educational policies, procedures, and grading concerns
  • Disciplinary action taken for a violation of student expectations and conduct.

A student wishing to escalate his or her complaint should follow the steps listed:

  • The first step is to address and resolve the dispute with the individual involved through discussion. The student with the grievance or complaint needs to raise their concerns as soon as possible to in a timely fashion to the Student Success Coordinator.
  • If dispute cannot be resolved through addressing the Student Success Coordinator, the second step is to appeal in writing to the Admissions Director. The written complaint must be submitted within seven business days of the incident or notification of termination. The document should include the description of the disputed item(s), the date(s) when issue arose, the reason why the student is appealing the decision and the steps taken to resolve the dispute to date. When submitting the student should include as much facts and or evidence as possible of circumstances.
  • The Admission Director will oversee the gathering of additional information about the issue as necessary. Then they will meet with heads of departments with the student, if requested and develop a resolution to the complaint.
  • A response will be provided within seven business days and provided in writing.

Procedure to Appeal to Secretary of Higher Education
If student still claims to be aggrieved, the Admissions Director will inform the student of his or her right to appeal to the Secretary of Higher Education at the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

The Secretary may investigate written complaints involving potential violations of these regulations with both the student and the officials of the school. Afterwards, the Secretary will report the findings of the investigation to the student and the Admissions Director.

What is the Refund Policy?

If an applicant/student cancels, withdraws, or is dismissed by the school for any reason, refunds will be made according to the school’s Refund Policy. If a refund is due the student, it will be paid within 60 days of the date that the student either officially withdraws or the school determines that the student has withdrawn. All refunds will be calculated using the student’s last day of class attendance. 

If a student withdraws without written or verbal notice after classes have started, termination shall be effective on the student’s last date of attendance as determined by the institution. Upon receipt of the refund, the student agrees that its receipts constitute a full and complete release of MTS CLASS from all liabilities.

7-DAY CANCELATION POLICY

All fees paid by a student shall be refunded if the student chooses not to enroll in or to withdraw from a school within 7 calendar days after having signed a contract. If the student chooses not to enroll after the 7-day cancellation period, but before the first day of instruction, the school may retain the application fee or registration fee, or both. After the 7-day cancellation period, the refund policy given below shall be followed. 1

DISCONTINUATION OF SCHOOL

If MTS CLASS discontinues its operations and closes, the school shall refund to each currently enrolled student monies paid by the student for tuition and fees and monies for which the student is liable for tuitions and fees.
